The Recreation Advisory Committee is an advisory body to the Director of Parks and Recreation of Powhatan County. The commission shall suggest policies to the County Administrator and the Board of Supervisors through the Director of Parks and Recreation in matters regarding development of all recreation areas within the county.

The Commission shall consult with and advise on recreation policies, programs, personal needs, funding, finances, and the need for acquiring and disposing of lands and properties related to the total community recreation program and to its long-range, projected program for recreation.

The goal of this committee is to preserve as much open space as possible, in order to provide appealing parks and recreational areas for the residents of Powhatan County. Citizens are welcome at the meetings, held the third Tuesday of each at 7:00 pm at the Village Building Conference Room on the ground floor.
